Avengers: Endgame – Marvel kept the most marvelous film for the end!

Before you move ahead, there is something you should know – this review contains no spoilers because we believe in giving everyone a chance to experience perhaps the most worthy film presented by Marvel. Everyone who has followed the Marvel Cinematic Universe knew that Avengers Endgame will be one of the best films of the Avengers franchise. What no one knew was that Avengers Endgame might go on to become the most successful superhero flick, not because of the ensemble cast but because the way that ensemble cast was handled by the directors Anthony and Joe Russo. This directing duo must give classes to filmmakers in DC Universe regarding how to handle multiple superhero flicks, how to keep the audience involved in the story, how to weave magic without actually going overboard and how to stay away from making ‘Martha Martha’ kind of blunders.

The film takes off from where it left in Avengers: Infinity War where Thanos wiped out half of the world’s population by a simple snap of the fingers. It was up to the remaining members of the superhero team to find out a way to defeat Thanos and bring back their loved ones, even if it means aligning themselves with Captain Marvel, who ‘specialized’ in such things. Do they manage to beat Thanos and win back their friends is one question but the bigger question remains what happens when Ant-Man and Hawkeye return to the Avengers Headquarters, not knowing what happened in their absence. They also lose track of each other after a successful mission at the start of the film, which sort of adds mystery to the screenplay that doesn’t have a single scene that seemed out of the way.

Every actor in this film gives their 100% as the character they have made their own – yes, Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) may not be his usual mean green self but he is there for his friends; Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) is at his very best despite being away from the action; Steve Rogers aka Captain America (Chris Evans) takes charge of the proceedings and his clean-shaven look ‘looks’ perfect as does Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) who misses her ‘family’ and their hopes are raised when they meet Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) who convinces the team that with her on their side, they might actually have a chance against Thanos. While they have Raccoon (voiced by Bradley Cooper) and War Machine (Don Cheadle) working their hearts out, they feel a little weak in the absence of Thor (Chris Hemsworth) who has left The Avengers believing that it was his miss that cost him the lives of his friends. The first half is spent collecting the team in the same way as Nick Fury and Agent Coulson did in the first film and the result isn’t much different, but what happens next will not only blow your mind but also make you realize that this film might be the best Superhero flick of all time.

If you thought that the mass slaughter at the end of Avengers: Infinity War was a shocker, then be ready to be stunned with the conclusion of Avengers Endgame where everything happens so fast that it even makes the calm Thanos, furious. There are a few scenes that one shouldn’t mention without revealing the spoilers – the one where Tony Stark meets someone he didn’t expect to meet, where Captain America realizes that he may be the strongest Avenger after all, where Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) returns to find his name in a monument as a martyr, where Captain Marvel makes her entry into the team etc. They are easily the most wonderfully crafted scenes in a Superhero flick as neither involves fighting but still plays with your emotions as if you are a kid watching your own relatives meet each other, save each other and standing up for each other. The tears that will fall out of your eyes will be tears of joy, and the screaming will come automatically to you, such will be the impact of this film. Don’t miss it because in the future people will ask you whether you were there when ‘Avengers Assembled’ for the last time because if you weren’t, then you missed something earth-saving!
