Accountability Court permits NAB to arrest Hamza Shahbaz

LAHORE: An accountability court in Lahore on Saturday issued a warrant for the arrest of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Hamza Shehbaz Sharif on National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) request.

“The suspect can be arrested by entering his house with the help of police,” the court said. “During the arrest, any unnecessary use of force should be avoided,” it further said.

NAB once again reached Shehbaz Sharif’s residence and cordoned it off in an attempt to arrest Hamza.

Contingents of police, Rangers and anti-riot force have surrounded Shehbaz’s 96-H Model Town residence, 24 hours after NAB first raided the PML-N president’s family residence to arrest Hamza. Police have been stationed outside the main gate of the house and contingents of female police officers are also present.

A large number of PML-N workers are staging a sit-in outside the residence. Earlier, police and party workers clashed as they attempted to reach the entrance of the Shehbaz family residence.

A large number of PML-N workers also reached the residence and clashed with police as they attempted to reach the gate of the house.

Talking to a TV channel Hamza said that workers should show solidarity peacefully. “Peaceful protest is the democratic right of workers,” he added.
