PERTH: More than 15 million people have so far watched the trailer for the feature film Tigers, by Oscar-winning director Danis Tanovic (“No Man’s Land”), co-written with Andy Paterson (“Girl with a Pearl Earring”, “The Railway Man”).
Tigers is based on a true story of a Pakistani salesman Syed Aamir Raza Hussain, the whistle-blower behind the Nestlé scandal in the late 90s. Aamir had later released a report which alleged that the MNC was trying to state its baby milk product’s importance over breastfeeding. However, Nestle has denied the claims.
The feature film will be screened at Murdoch Lecture Theatre, G58 Arts Building, Ground Floor, University of Western Australia on Thursday, February 28, 2019 between 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm.
Emraan Hashmi has played the lead role in the film as Nestlé sales representative in Pakistan who discovers his new company’s baby formula has killed hundreds of children, after which he begins his dangerous battle against the multinational.
The film had its premiere in September 2014 at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival.
The film faced multiple delays during its initial public release. It was later released digitally on the on-demand platform ZEE5 on 13 November 2018.
