ISLAMABAD: The excise and taxation department Islamabad has launched a programme for a hassle and fraud-free registration and transfer of vehicles.
As per the programme, now onward the physical presence of sellers and buyers will be required at the excise office for transfer of the vehicle registration.
For ensuring transparency, the seller and buyers’ biometric verification will also be required.
Director Excise and Taxation, Islamabad, Muhammad Bilal Azam said under the programme a mechanism has been developed for online submission of documents. A one-window centre has also been established at excise office for swift transfer of vehicles.
In recent times many cases have been reported in Pakistan where buyers lost their money due to the fraudulent sale of vehicles.
Earlier, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) busted a gang involved in making fake files of cars and selling stolen cars through online marketplaces. The new vehicle transfer system will ensure that no car is sold in the capital city without biometrics.
