NEWD DELHI: Indian National Congress is considering to field Bollywood superstar Kareena Kapoor Khan in the upcoming Indian national elections from Bhopal.
A report in The Indian Express newspaper said that the Congress is mulling over fielding the superstar against BJP from a Loksaba constituency in Bhopal.
The proposed move is aimed at giving tough time to the BJP in the constituency which has remained a BJP stronghold for a long time.
A Congress leader in Madhya Pradesh, Yogendra Singh Chauhan, has requested the party chief to field Bollywood superstar Kareena Kapoor Khan in the upcoming national election.
In a letter to Congress chief Rahul Gandhi, Chauhan suggested Kareena would be a potential candidate to defeat BJP man from the constituency.
Reports further claimed that Yogendra was seeking an appointment with Chief Minister Kamal Nath to convince him to give Kareena a party ticket.
However, the Veere Di Wedding starlet has rejected the reports as baseless. Kareena has made it very clear that she has no plans of entering politics and would rather focus on acting.
The 38-year-old actor said she has neither been approached nor does she have an interest in politics. “There is no truth to these reports. I have not been approached for this whatsoever. My focus is and will be films only,” the actor said in a statement.
