NEW YORK: The United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres said that he wished India and Pakistan engage in a meaningful dialogue.
During a press conference here at the UN headquarters, Antonio Guterres while responding a question said that he hoped both the countries would be able to engage in a meaningful dialogue.
A Pakistani journalist asked the UN chief on the fact that despite Pakistani Prime Minister’s peace gestures, there has been no positive response from India.
Guterres responded that he had been offering his good offices in relation to the dialogue between the two countries that, until now, had no conditions of success.
Regarding Kashmir, the UN Secretary General said that the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights had produced recently a very detailed report. So, the UN has clearly done its job in that regard.
He said that he was hopeful the two countries will be able to engage in a meaningful dialogue.
