ISLAMABAD: A nephew of State Minister for Interior, Shehryar Afridi, was arrested after recovery of Hashish from his possession recently.
According to New One TV, the minister’s nephew, Talal Nadir Afridi, was arrested along with his two friends. Sources said that some half a kilogramme of hashish was recovered from them.
A first information report (FIR) was registered against the three accused on December 11, 2018, in the Jand, Attock police station.
According to the FIR, police asked the suspects to stop their car at a check post. However, the accused tried to escape.
However, police chased their vehicle and stopped it. A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 507 grammes of hashish from them. Consequently, they were arrested and an FIR was registered.
Sources said that Talal Nadir Afridi has been bailed out by a court.
Recently, the state minister has pledged to crack down hard on the mafia involved in selling drugs, especially in educational institutions. His statement about using of drugs by students especially girls in Islamabad schools generated controversy.
