ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Friday summoned Chairman, National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Justice (Retd) Javed Iqbal, to appear before it in a case relating to the construction of a hospital.
A three members’ bench headed by Chief Justice Saqib Nisar was hearing a case regarding construction of a hospital in Islamabad.
During the hearing of the case, Secretary Health informed the bench that a 200-bed hospital was constructed in Tarlai area. Justice Ijazul Ahsan inquired from the Secretary as to what happened to the hospital, which was to be built by the Bahrain government. The CDA was to provide land for the proposed hospital, the judge remarked.
The Secretary replied that nothing happened, as NAB initiated an inquiry into the land acquisition for the proposed hospital.
The chief justice expressed anger over this. He said that a petition is filed in the court against someone and they (NAB) drag everyone to the case.
The CJP revealed that a woman official of NAB Lahore is blackmailing people and misusing her authority.
The court ordered the NAB Chairman to appear before the bench in the chamber.
