LAHORE: Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is cleaning his room at Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore as part of the rigorous imprisonment he was awarded in Al-Azizia reference.
Inspector General Prisons Punjab Mirza Shahid Saleem Baig said that the former Prime Minister is being made to clean his room as he is serving rigorous imprisonment.
The prison official said that Nawaz rigorous imprisonment is limited to only cleaning the room.
Baig said that Nawaz is a high-profile prisoner who cannot venture out of his barracks.
Responding to a question about Nawaz’s rigorous punishment, the IG prisons said the hard labour being taken from the former premier is as per jail manual.
An accountability court on December 24 had sentenced Nawaz to seven years in prison in Al-Azizia Steel Mills corruption reference while acquitting him in the Flagship Investment reference. He was arrested from the courtroom shortly afterwards.
