Accountability Court Reserves Verdict in NAB References Against Nawaz Sharif

ISLAMABAD: An accountability court on Wednesday reserved its verdict on the two remaining references the National Accountability Court (NAB) had filed against the former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on the directive of the Supreme Court in Panama leak case.

The hearing of the NAB references: Flagship Investment and Al-Azizia Steel Mills, against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was concluded by the accountability court number-II judge Muhammad Arshad Malik.
The court is bound to pronounce verdict in the case by December 24 as per the instruction of the Supreme Court.

Sharif’s counsel Khawaja Haris pleaded the accountability court judge Arshad Malik for additional time to furnish some documents. However, the request for time was rejected. But the judge told the counsel that he can furnish any documents by December 24, 2018.

Haris while advancing his final and concluding arguments today said that Nawaz Sharif has never admitted that he received a salary from Capital FZE.

He said that his client’s position in the said company was “honourary”.
In August 2017, the accountability court had indicted Sharif in the said references for holding assets beyond his known sources of income.
