Malaysian Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Muhammad has flayed Australia for its move to recognize Baitul Maqdas (Occupied Jerusalem) as the capital of Israel.
Australia decided to formally recognize West Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, but won’t move its embassy until there is a peace settlement between Israel and Palestinians, Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced Saturday.
He said in a speech that Australia will recognize East Jerusalem as Palestine’s capital only after a settlement has been reached on a two-state solution. The Australian Embassy won’t be moved from Tel Aviv until such a time, he said.
Malaysian Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Muhammad while addressing a ceremony in Thailand said that Australia has no right to divide the occupied Baitul Maqdas (Occupied Jerusalem).
Australia has no right to divide Baitul Maqdas and it has always been Palestinian’s.
Australia has no relations whatsoever with Baitul Maqdas, the veteran Malaysian leader said while addressing a ceremony to award him honorary PhD degree by Thailand’s Rangsit University (RUS).
The Rangsit University (RUS) has presented Malaysian Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad with an honorary doctorate in social leadership,business and politics.
The university presented the honorary doctorate to Mahathirat its 34th convocation at its main campus in Mueang Pathum Thani District,where some 5,950 of the university’s graduates are scheduled to receive their scrolls today.
Mahathir is the fourth high-profile public figure to be awarded the honorary doctorate by the university, after the late Princess Srinagarindra of Thailand; King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck of Bhutan (2009)and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe of Japan (2016).
In his keynote address, Mahathir said he was humbled by the recognition given by the university.
