LAHORE – Hampshire has announced the return of Pakistan international Shahid Afridi to the Ageas Bowl for this year’s NatWest T20 Blast 2017.
The flamboyant all-rounder symbolized Hampshire for the very first time in 2011, becoming a fan favorite in his debut season. His second stint for the county side came in 2016 when he played 12 T20 matches.
His 28 wickets with the ball across both stints came at a great average of 18.32, whilst the righthander also proved to be a vital contributor with the bat during that time, emphasized by his spectacular 80 from only 42 balls in the 2011 semi-final against Somerset at Edgbaston.
The big-hitting all-rounder is extremely experienced, having played around the planet and he now holds the record for the most wickets in T20 Internationals in most of the important T20 contests, having taken in as many matches for Pakistan 92 scalps.
His return to the field for England’s national T20 contest answers many questions regarding his future as a player.
The Natwest T20 Blast kicks off on July 7.
