PESHAWAR: City Administration of Peshawar today announced a holiday on December 16, marking the second anniversary of the deadly Taliban assault on Army Public School in 2014.
Deputy Commissioner of Peshawar issued a notification on Wednesday in this regard.
According to the notification, all schools, colleges and universities shall remain closed on December 16 in the wake of the second anniversary of Army Public School incident and the prevailing sensitivity of the security situation.
At least 150 people mostly students were killed and scores were wounded when Taliban gunmen attacked the Army Public School on December 16.
Earlier, in the day, the session of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly chaired by Speaker Assad Qaisar Wednesday passed the resolution demanding merger of FATA in KP province.
The resolution was moved by Dr. Haider Ali of PTI.
The resolution demanded that tribal areas should be merged in KP keeping in view the aspiration and wishes of tribal people.
KP Assembly also passed another resolution moved by Mufti Fazal Gafoor of JUI demanding federal government to raise voice for the killing of innocent citizens in Allepo, Syria and brutal murdering of Rohingya Muslims in Burma.
