LAHORE: Former legendary fast bowler Wasim Akram has decided to skip Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 session, citing professional commitments.
Wasim Akram has served as the bowling coach and mentor of IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders in last editions.
According to the press release by the KKR, Wasim mentioned his personal and professional commitments and time constraints and excused from being a part to the KKR in the upcoming season.
The KKR statement quoted Wasim Akram as saying, “I have loved the camaraderie in KKR team and have enjoyed every opportunity to mentor the highly talented team over the years. I am surely going to miss being part of the dressing room, but I wish the team continued success.”
It should be mentioned here that former Pakistan captain has recently signed a contract with the Sri Lankan board to coach their fast bowlers.
It should be mentioned here that this is not the first time the legendary pacer missed an IPL edition as he had skipped the 2013 edition to be with his family. Then defending champions, KKR ultimately finished seventh that year.
