LAHORE: Punjab Rescue Services Director General Dr. Rizwan Naseer has asked people to avoid unnecessary travel and called upon drivers to use special lights during foggy or smoggy season, especially when the visibility level reduces to zero on highways and motorways.
While presiding over a meeting of Rescue officers at the Provincial Monitoring Cell on Thursday, Dr Rizwan was briefed about current smog prevailing in Punjab capital.
He asked drivers to use proper indicators and avoid stopping in middle of the road while travelling on highways and motorways. He also asked motorcyclists and pedestrians to use masks, wet handkerchiefs to cover mouths and goggles to cover eyes to save themselves from any respiratory problems during smog.
The DG Rescue also expressed deep grief over the traffic crash and directed all the District Emergency Officers (DEOs) to educate citizens especially commuters about adopting precautionary measures during the ongoing smoggy season.
He directed the DEOs to develop coordination and liaison with the police and highways authorities and ensure life safety. –APP
