KARACHI: Javed Akbar Riaz has been appointed as SSP Malir replacing notorious Rao Anwar, who was suspended from his post after a controversial arrest of opposition leader Sindh Assembly Khuwaja Izhar ul Hasan.
A notification to this effect has been issued on Monday.
Javed Akbar, a grade-19 officer, before taking the charge as SSP Malir, was offering his duties as SSP in Special Branch.
It is pertinent to mention here that SSP JAved Akbar is renowned for his honest and clean reputation. His appointment as SSP Malir was received as bad news for officers under Rao Anwar’s clout.
Rao Anwar invited the ire of high-ups as he took MQM leader in custody from his house without informing the Chief Minister and Speaker Sindh Assembly.
