KARACHI: Corps Commander Karachi, Lt-Gen Naveed Mukhtar, Tuesday visited Rangers headquarters where he was briefed about crackdown on Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM).
The crackdown was ordered by Chief of Army Staff Gen Raheel Sharif after violence following a provocative speech by MQM chief Altaf Hussain, Samaa reported
According to our correspondent, the Corps Commander was briefed by DG Rangers Major General Bilal Akbar at the Rangers headquarters.
“The Corps Commander has directed Rangers to take strict action against elements involved in inciting violence and ransacking,” according to our correspondent.
Reports said Corps Commander Karachi, Lt-Gen Naveed Mukhtar also held separate meetings with Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Shah and Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan.
The CM and Governor discussed law and order situation with the Corps Commander and directed for enhanced patrolling of Rangers in Karachi, sources said.
