You may have heard of all the hula boo regarding the Green Moon which is supposed to be seen today. It is being said that almost full moon will glow green for whole 90 minutes.
Scientists debunked these claims saying no such thing is going to happen. The claim which supported the rumor is that either on April 20 or May 29, planets are going to align. And moon will be only 4 degrees from the green-tinged Uranus in the night sky and this will cause our lunar satellite to beam green for an hour and a half.
According to those who are behind this rumor, this event is very rare and it happened in 1596. Scientists busted this rumor. Joe Rao, a columnist at Space.com writes, “”What I personally find most distressing about the ‘green moon’ and other hoaxes are all of the emails I receive from seemingly knowledgeable and intelligent people.” He says, “These missives all start out with some variant of the following: ‘I know this probably isn’t true, but can you verify this?'”
“Use your critical-thinking skills: If something sounds too weird, crazy or amazing to be true, it probably isn’t true,” he adds.
People are paying more attention to this because before that there was a lot of hubbub about red moon. But they do not have anything to do with each other.
