ISLAMABAD: Senate Chairman Raza Rabbani met Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to discuss issues pertaining to Panama Papers.
Both the leaders discussed the proposition to constitute a parliamentary committee to probe the startling revelations of Panama Papers involving the family of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
Rabbani briefed the PPP chairman about his decision to refuse to head the inquiry commission.
They also discussed the ongoing senate proceedings and overall political situation prevailing in the country.
Earlier, Rabbani had refused to head a PPP-proposed parliamentary commission for investigation of Panama Papers.
Yesterday, opposition leader Syed Khursheed Shah had urged the government to name Senate Chairman Raza Rabbani as head of parliamentary commission.
“I’m thankful to Khursheed Shah for proposing my name, but I have no experience in investigating white collar crime,” said the Senate chairman.
