PTA to amend Consumer Protection Regulations

ISLAMABAD- Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) announces amendments in the ‘Consumer Protection Regulations, 2009’ in order to protect the consumer interests as authorized under the Pakistan Telecommunication (Re-organization) Act 1996.

These regulations basically provide a standard in regards with launching commercial practices and telecommunication promotional schemes by different operators.

The amended law demands the commercial activity operators to give at least ten working days’ notice to PTA before the launch of any promotional scheme. Furthermore, Telecom operators will inform PTA from now on to inform PTA before launching commercial activities.

Several other salient amendments have been made in order to facilitate consumers.
