KOLKATA: Skipper of Pakistan cricket team Shahid Afridi proved again that he is a match winner and today his match winning performance against Bangladesh helped Pakistan to grab first win in the International Cricket Council (ICC) Cricket World Cup, 2016, TheNewsTribe.com reported.
Shahid Afridi who is also known as Boom Boom in cricket world, scored 49 runs in just 19 ball with help of four sixes and 4 fours,and took two important wickets, including the wicket of Tamim Iqbal.
Afrid’s all-round performance lead Pakistan to first victory of the mega event of ICC and he was declared as ‘Man of the Match.’
After this, Shahid Afridi became the first cricketer to win 11’Man of the Match’ award in T20 cricket internationals. He also a highest wicket taker in this format as he took 95 wickets so far.
Pakistan will ow take on India in next group match of the tournament at Eden Gardens cricket stadium, Kokata on March 19.
