Albert Einstein is the man who altered the mankind’s view of universe completely. His work laid the foundation for atomic bomb which has made the new generations to enter a totally different arena. Here are a few facts about his life,
He was born on March 14th, 1879 in a Jewish electrical engineer’s home in Ulm, Germany. After a childhood in Germany and Italy, Einstein studied physics and mathematics at the Federal Polytechnic Academy in Zurich, Switzerland.
He became a Swiss citizen and in 1905 was awarded a Ph.D. from the University of Zurich. He published five theoretical papers that were to have a profound effect on the development of modern physics that year.
Though he was welcomed into the circle of Europe’s most eminent physicists but he was not embraced by public by that time.
In the next decades, he became a world-renowned public figure. With the passage of time he became increasingly political taking up the cause of Zionism and speaking out against militarism and rearmament. He renounced his German citizenship when Hitler became chancellor in 1933.
He settled in US and became US citizen in 1940. After the Second World War he called for the establishment of a world government that would control nuclear technology and prevent future armed conflict. He dies in 1955 in Princeton.
