ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Electronic media Regulation Authority (PEMRA) has issued ‘show cause notices’ to media channels over ‘excessive criticism’ on Pakistan Twenty20 skipper Shahid Khan Afridi.
According to details, PEMRA issued warning notices to local TV channels including Aaj TV and 92 News for violating electronic media code of ethics.
PEMRA in its notice mentioned that ” Criticising a player is constitutional right, but criticism should be done within limits and ethics.”
The Regulation Authority warned owners of mentioned TV channels to maintain ethical boundaries and show ‘responsibility’ during live broadcast.
Earlier, news anchors from said TV channels had used abusive language against T20 skipper Shahid Afridi over his controversial statement in which he had said that Pakistan team gets more love in India than in Pakistan.
