DHAKA: Thanks to Virat Kohli’s consistent brilliance with the bat, India hve comfortably beaten Sri Lanka in seventh game of Asia Cup Twenty20 by 5 wickets to qualify for the final of the tournament.
Indian skipper MS Dhoni chose to bowl first after winning th toss, and the decision proved too good for his side as Indian pacers kept Lankan to order at bay and did not let them to free arms.
Middle order batsman Kapugedera (30) and Sriwardaan (22) were the top scorer from Lankan side.
Ashish Nehra took 1 for 23 while Pandiya and Bhumra bagged 2 each for 26 and 27 runs respectively.
India in reply lost two quick wickets, but viratk Kohlo (56*) and Suresh Raina (27) took the responsibility and put up a 54 runs partnership for third wicket before top-edging one of Kulasekera’s ball.
Rest of the work was done by Yuvraj SIngh’s power hitting, and then MS Dhoni along with Kohli finished things off with 5 wickets and 4 balls to spare.
If Pakistan win tomorrow’s game against Bangladesh, Sri Lanka will be out of the final’s marathon.
