Khawaja Saad Rafique blames martyred driver for Gujranwala train incident

ISLAMABAD – Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique revealed that Gujranwala train incident occurred due to the high speed, on Monday.

Khawaja Saad Rafique put the responsibility of train incident on the shoulders of martyred driver.

While addressing to press conference in Islamabad, he revealed that train accident occurred due to high speed. Federal minister told that Chawan bridge was perfectly fine.

Saad Rafique said that joint investigation team is examining the case from every angle. He claimed that railway track was fine.

Team will also check that whether there was a fault in engine r not.

Earlier, shocking revelations have been made during investigation of fetal Gujranwala train accident which claimed 19 lives including 12 Army officials, when three bogies of a special train carrying army officials fell into a canal and one other was derailed as a railway bridge collapsed near Gujranwala on Thursday, local media reported.

According to sources, an investigation team while visiting the affected railway bridge found out bolts and fish plates [fish plate is a metal or wooden plate that is bolted to the sides at the ends of two rails or beams, to join them] some 400 meters away from the accident spot, as well as some frictional scratches on the track, which indicates that everything is not OK with it.
