Rangers violating constitutional limits: Farhatullah Babar

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Peoples Party’s Senator Farhatullah Babar, in Senate, has said that Rangers are interfering in the functions of provincial government.

Senator Farhatullah Babar said that Rangers was called for eradication of terrorism in Karachi under Article 147 of the constitution, but now Rangers are interfering in the functions of provincial government.

“What is the reason that DG Rangers is issuing statements which he constitutionally is not allowed to. Is not he violating the rules?” Farhatullah Babar questioned.

PPP Senator said that corruption, ransom of kidnapping and other crimes are not the jurisdiction of Rangers, neither rangers can act against the smuggling of Irani oil, saying it the jurisdiction of provincial government only.

State minister for Interior, Baleegh ur Rehman, replying to the arguments of Farhatullah Babar in national Assembly, told that Rangers was sent to Sindh on the request of provincial government.

“Rangers have been in Karachi since long, and its not under the Pakistan Protection bill”. Baleegh ur Rehman added. Rejecting the allegations of Rangers in the functions of provincial government, State miniter for interior has said that law and order situation is getting better every passing day. He explained that CM Sindh is the captain of Karachi operation.
