Imran conditionally agrees to vote for Senate’s top slot elections

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan has put his long standing demand of formation of judicial commission as condition to vote for election of Chairman and Deputy Chairman Senate.

In an interview on Sunday, the PTI chief reiterated its party demand to form judicial commission and said their party will participate in election of the chairman and deputy chairman slot of the Senate if government forms judicial commission.

Following the elections, marred by allegations of horse-trading, the PTI expressed its reluctance  to vote for the candidates of either the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) or the opposition Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) for the position of Senate chairman and deputy chairman.

Imran said the party may be ready to take part in the process to elect the head of Parliament’s Upper House provided that the government fulfills its longstanding demand of forming a judicial commission to probe alleged irregularities and rigging in the May 2013 general elections.
