Transfers, postings in police thru Apex Committee: DG ISPR

KARACHI: Director General Inter-Services Public Relation (ISPR) on Monday said that  Army Chief General Raheel Sharif has called for empowering police as an effective and apolitical force,. adding that transfer and posting be carried out without interference and through provincial apex committee.

According to DG ISPR tweet, the COAS said that police expediency could not generate apolitical response.

He said that Rangers operations created environment for sustained peace, stability, adding that political consensus and follow up must to capitalize on the space created by the targeted action for enduring peace in the port city.
He opined that political expediency can’t generate apolitical response. The COAS said that crimes were dealt as apolitical, calling for broad based consensus and harmony must for capitalizing on the gains of the targeted action in Karachi.
He made it clear that the ongoing operation was being carried out without any discrimination and against all criminals, beyond their ethnic,political,religious,sectarian affinity and with transparency and sincerity of purpose.
The Army chief observed that Karachi had played great role in the formative years of the country and played great role in the economy.
He said that peace in Karachi means prosperity for Pakistan and for that meaningful effort were required.
