WASHINGTON: US President Barack Obama has not scheduled any meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during his visit to Washington in March, foreign news agency reported on Thursday.
A White House statement said that President Barack Obama will not hold any meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu scheduled to visit Washington in March, AP reported.
It should be mentioned here that PM Netanyahu to visit Washington in part for a March 3 address to a joint session of Congress. Netanyahu was invited to address Congress while the invitation was sent by the House Speaker John Boehner without consulting the Obama administration.
However, spokeswoman Bernadette Meehan said that the President would not meet with heads of state or candidates in close proximity to their elections in keeping with “long-standing practice and principle,”.
Israel has scheduled to organise elections in mid-March this year.
