Ban on pillion riding ‘recommended’ in Karachi

KARACHI: Additional Inspector General of Police Ghulam Qadir Thebo recommended the Sindh government to ban pillion riding for three days to carry on anti-polio campaign in sensitive areas of Karachi.

The recommendation was made following the violent incident took place against polio campaigners who survived safe in a violent attack while vaccinating children underway in densely populated Banaras area of Aurangi Town situated in the metropolis Karachi on Monday morning.

A policeman sustained serious injuries deployed to provide security to anti-polio campaigners, however, the vaccination campaign in UC 6 Banaras has been stopped following the violent attack by unknown assailants.

The incident took place in Banaras Colony area of Aurangi Town while the injured official was shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment later he succumbed to injures in the hospital. The deceased police official was identified as Tabassum.
