Transporters given deadline to install emergency gates in buses

KARACHI: Sindh transport minister Mir Mumtaz Hussain Jahkhrani has ordered all public transport operators of the province that to install emergency exit gates in buses adding that FIR will be lodged against those who will not follow the instructions.

According to the details, the minister issued the instruction in wake of deadly accident two days ago near National Highway killing as many as 62 persons including women and children who could not leave bus due to no exit gate.

In this regard, the provincial transport department issued a notification.

The notification said that all transporters of passenger buses must install emergency gates in the buses within a month and FIR will be registered and punitive actions will be taken against those who will not obey the orders.

The notification also instructed that all the buses entering into the provinces will be inspected and after the inspection they will be allowed to enter the province.
