ISLAMABAD: The newly-appointed Chief Election Commissioner Justice (retd) Sardar Raza Khan took oath as CEC at Supreme Court on Saturday.
Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Nasirul Mulk administered the oath to Justice Sardar Raza at a simple but impressive ceremony at Supreme Court of Pakistan. The oath taking ceremony was attended by Supreme Court judges, senior lawyers, Attorney General for Pakistan and other high ups.
It is to be mentioned here that post- which had been vacant for the last 16 months- was filled after three names were shortlisted for the post on December 3.
Justice (retd) Raza, Justice (retd) Tanvir Ahmad Khan and Justice (retd) Tariq Pervez were the three candidates shortlisted.
Months of procrastination and uncertainty came to an end when the federal government finally appointed Justice Raza as CEC for the next five years.
