ISLAMABAD: National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) increased power rates by 2.24 rupees per unit.
According to a notification issued by the regulatory authority, the hike will not affect consumers in Karachi plus those using less than 50 units per month nationwide.
On March 13, Nepra had allowed power distribution companies to increase the electricity tariff on account of fuel price adjustment for January.
What was interesting to note was that the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) had sought a tariff increase of Rs2.19 per unit, but the regulator had increased the price by Rs2.24 per unit.
The higher tariff will be reflected in the consumer bills of March.
