In a pioneering move, the dairy co-operative firm ‘AMUL’ has launched India’s first “Any Time Milk (ATM)” vending machine.
The machine which operates 24 hours is designed to accept a Rs 10 note and after sensing the note, one pouch is dispensed from bottom of the machine. The milk pouches are kept in the automatic dispensing machine, which also keeps the milk pouches refrigerated at 4 degrees.
The vending machine installed at Amul Dairy gate at Anand in Gujarat has already become a hit with about 200 pouches dispensed after midnight till morning on the first day of its installation.
Amul Dairy is exploring the option of installing such ATMs are more locations as the service is very useful for customers especially during odd hours.
It must be noted that the service is not the first of its kind in the world as such service was launched in Kenya last September but did not get much media coverage.
