Pakistan approves first-ever law against electricity thefts

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistani President Mamnoon Hussain on Wednesday has approved an ordinance defining strict punishments for electricity thieves across the country, reports said.

President Mamnoon Hussain has signed first-ever ordinance in the history of Pakistan against criminals involved in electricity thefts in the country, local media reported.

Strict punishments would be pronounced against the persons found guilty in the cases of electricity thefts as Rs1-100 million fines will be imposed while the criminal could face imprisonment for 2-7 years.
