Islamabad: The severe cold wave has making records in Pakistan as Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast further cold wave in across the country.
Director Meterological Department, Muhammad Hanif said that the intensity of the winter season is likely to persist for a few more days.
He said that up in the hilly areas, things went all the worse as Kalat recorded minimum temperature at minus 15, Quetta minus 13, Skardu minus 12, Parachanar minus 10 and Rawalakot minus 6 degree Celsius freezing tap water, lakes and streams.
On the other hand, Miranshah is also facing extreme weather snowfall occurred after five years.
He maintained that extreme weather is prevalent in Northern Balochistan along with other northern areas. People are facing extreme difficulties as running water is no more available for the citizens and has transformed into ice.
Likewise, Lahore experienced zero degree temperature for the first time this season along with Peshawar and Dera Ismail Khan also recording zero degrees. Gujrat witnessed minus 2, Islamabad saw minus 3, Multan 2 and Karachi, which is usually the warmest in winters, fell down to 3 degrees.
The meteorological department said that this extreme cold wave would continue for next few days, while light rain and snowfall on the mountains expected in the upper areas.
