Islamabad: Federal Minister for Petroleum Shahid Khaqan Abbassi has announced to increase gas tariff from January 2014 for commercial users.
This was confirmed by Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi at a news conference where he also dashed hopes of progress on the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline in the immediate future.
He said that the CNG sector will get gas on availability but they are sorry for not being able to provide it now.
“Sindh industries will not get gas supply for one day and CNG sector for three days while KPK CNG supply will remain closed for continued one month,” said the Petroleum Minister.
Khaqan Abbassi revealed on the occasion that currently country is facing gas shortfall of 4 billion cubic feet but it would reduce in November 2014, after start of LNG import. SAMAA
A report hinted that the price hike would be a result of an agreement signed with the IMF for increasing gas tariff in January.
