Member of National Assembly and leader of MQM, Farooq Sattar said the new system is outdated and will create ethnic hatred.
Farooq Sattar argued and stated in his plea that the new act was contradictory to Article 140 of the Constitution of Pakistan and Supreme Court’s orders.
Talking to media persons after filing the petition, he said the ordinance would create a gulf between urban and rural population.
“MQM wants a local government system, which gives control of police, land allotment, transport, education, health and other sectors to local government,” he added.
Dr Sattar pleaded that the apex court should annul the act and ordered the government to make necessary amendments.
