Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz led government has raised electricity prices a couple of days back triggering a strong reaction countrywide.
“We just wanted to know the legal requirements regarding the hike,” chief justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry observed.
In its interim decision over the case, the apex court ordered to retract the surge in power prices after adjourning the case for two weeks.
The Attorney General of Pakistan Munir Ahmed Malik says that National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has been ordered to issue new price notification.
The withdrawal of the notification will be bring the prices of electricity at the level of Sep 30. The surge was about 6 rupees per unit.
