Islamabad: Exchange of ideas inevitable for the strengthening of interfaith harmony among the religions. It was said by Prof. Dr. Ahmad Yousif Al-Draiweesh, President International Islamic University, Islamabad.
The President IIUI was talking to media persons at end of the 2-day International conference on “Grassroots Approaches to US-Pakistan Relations” jointly organized by the Intersections, International, New York & Iqbal International Institute for Research & Dialogue, IIUI.
Foreign scholars from various countries, and prominent American intellectuals also participated in the conference. VP (academics) Dr Mumtaz Ahmed and co director of the event and worthy guest Mr. Reverend Robert Chase from USA were also present.
President said that such type of endeavours always help to promote the understandings about religions, and nullify the misconceptions regarding the religions.
He said that every religion strengthens believe of peace and teaches the divine message of respect. He showed strong hope to the success and wished to accomplish the associated goals with this effort.
He said this conference would prove new avenues for understandings and good relations of Pakistan-US. He also laid stress upon the need to have even more consortium of the intellectuals about interfaith dialogue to promote the harmony among different religions.
He said that it is very painful situation that the people who do not have knowledge about the true message of Islam, but try to engage themselves in debate of Islamic Issues, they should not pretend to be a scholars.
Dr. Al- Draiweesh said that hate speech is one of the biggest tragedies of the contemporary world’ and hate speech should always be discouraged specially regarding to religions. He said that Islam is peaceful religion, it never allowed its followers to adopt any way of dishonour and disgrace of any religion.
President also announced to organize an international conference on the message and thoughts of great evolutionary poet, Allama Muhammad Iqbal. He said that Iqbal is known and honoured in Arab world also, as regarded in any part of the world.
At the end Robert Chase and other members of the Intersections, International, New York clarified, their organization is not mouth piece of American government.
He said that a large number of Americans do not agree with the foreign policy of US Government. Foreign delegates also answered the questions raised by the media persons.
