Quetta: A chaos was witnessed in Quetta on Monday when doctors protesting against the abduction of Dr. Saeed Khan attempted to reach Governor’s House to stage a sit-in there.
The protestors tried to cross the barricades erected there and had argument with the police personnel there who said that they cannot allow violation of law.
Meanwhile, some protestors managed to cross the barrier and as a result invited heavy teargas shelling from police. Scenes of policemen being beaten was also witnessed on the occasion while some doctors also fell unconscious because of the shelling.
Following the incident, heavy contingents of police regrouped near the Governor’s House in a bid to stop any untoward incident.
The government has already hinted at issuing show-cause notices to some 250 doctors as patients are facing immense trouble because of the suspension of medical services. Moreover, Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) has threatened to continue their strike even on the 9th and 10th of Muharram-ul-Haram.
Earlier, Balochistan President, Sultan Tareen said that kidnappers are demanding a huge ransom to release the doctor and the provincial government seems helpless in capturing the abductors.
According to news report, Dr Saeed Khan, an eye specialist, was kidnapped on October 16 from his clinic at Saryab Road, Quetta following which protests were initiated.
