KARACHI: As war against terrorism has been accelerated in country after the Peshawar terrorist attack and new strategies are being formed for dealing this issue. The provincial governments are working actively beside the federal government on this front. Sindh police is also working on the plan to make its role more effective against terrorism.
To deal this issue Special Security Unit (SSU) of Sindh police has be established against terrorists. The lady commandos are also included beside male commandos in the SSU.
The SSU is different from normal police unit because smart and comparatively young cops are included in this unit. The duty of these contingents is keep them ready to cope with terrorists.
According to details issued by Sindh police the color uniform of SSU commando force is black.
It has said in the police details, the force has been equipped with latest weapons and equipments; meanwhile they been kept on priority regarding economically. Monthly salary of a single commando has been fixed at 40 thousand rupees.
800 males and 50 females are being recruited in the force. The appointments are being made under National Testing Service (NTS).
It would must for candidates to pass physical test, written and psychological tests for selection. The selected candidates would be trained under supervision of Pakistan Army.
The services of new force (SSU) are not limited. The protection of VIPs is included in one of their top responsibilities. The President, Prime Minister, Chief Justice of Pakistan, Speaker National Assembly, Chairman Senate, Governor, Chief Minister and heads of foreign countries are included in the VIPs.
This special unit of the force would work under supervision of Assistant Inspector General of police. Currently lieutenant general (retd) Maqsood Ahmed is working on the post.
