Melissa Bachman in trouble: a photo with a slain loin raised questions

Melissa Bachman, animal hunter celebrity, posted a photo of her with a slain lion and that’s it, she was in trouble. Animal rights groups all over the world became furious and questioned her morals for killing wild animals just for the sake of sports.

Over 300,000 people have signed a petition against her on change.org. These people demanded South African government to ban the celebrity from entering the country.

In that photo, she is sitting (smiling brightly) with a slain lion, which she described as a “beautiful male lion”.

Even celebrities have criticized her, Ricky Gervais tweeted, “there’s a big difference between the natural need for a species to kill and eat prey & just shooting an animal simply as a ghastly trophy.”

A resident from Cape Town, Elan Burman, initiated the petition against her on the website.

Burman started his letter, “Melissa Bachman has made a career out of hunting wildlife, for pure sport. She is an absolute contradiction to the culture of conservation, this country prides itself on.”

The letter was addressed to Director General Mkuseli Apleni and few more South African officials.

Millions of people have supported the petition since its launch.

Linda Burns, a lady from NSW town (Worrigee), said, “This is senseless slaughter of animals who already endangered & just for human entertainment. It is shameful that you allow someone to kill these animals in such a cowardly manner,”

Another hurt soul from UK, Elene Tsiklauri, wrote, “Cruelty and violence against animals should not be accepted.”

“People should not be killing animals for sport. Disgustingm, ”Debbie Sykes from Japan shared her opinion.

ABC News reported that this lion hunting was backed by Maroi Conservancy, a company in Limpopo province, South Africa.

Seeing the mounting public anger, Mario Conservancy official Facebook page posted, “We do ethical hunting and all meat from animals hunted is distributed to the local community. On her wish list was a lion. There are no lions on Maroi as they do not occur here naturally. We contacted an outfitter in the North West Province and we facilitated the hunt for Melissa.”

Bachman has plenty of more photos on her official Twitter and Facebook accounts, where she has posed with the animals killed by her.

There are many people who still appreciated her skills but people who condemn her are countless. One living example is “Stop Melissa Bachman”, a Facebook page with over 160,000 likes.

This is not the first petition against her on change.org; five more are already present in the archives.
