Pakistan mobile users get ready for faster internet usageISLAMABAD: Pakistan has at last drafted a policy for 3G auctioning paving the way for an era of faster mobile internet usage.

Minister of State for IT and Telecom Anusha Rahman Thursday said that the spectrum auction policy has been issued and that it was now the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA’s) job to ensure a timely and successful auction.

“The government will support complete transparency in the auction of next generation mobile services in Pakistan,” Anusha said during her visit to PTA’s headquarter.

“Mobile subscribers in Pakistan would be able to transmit and receive high speed data through their cell phones once the next generation services are launched,” viewed Syed Ismail Shah, PTA chairman.

The matter of 3G auctioning has been in pending for years as smartphone boom has already hit the country, a home of over 120 million mobile devices. Most of the countries are now offering 4G services, the upgraded model of 3G as the authorities still have to finalize the older technology auctioning.
