Locals say that Muslim community in Europe and United Kingdom is likely to be divided over issue of celebrating Eid al Adha.
The expected dates of Eid could be Oct 15 and Oct 16 following trends of crescent watching in Saudi Arabia and local crescent watching.
Resources to support Eid-ul-Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, the Muslim festival which commemorates the obedience of the prophet Ibrahim, who was willing to sacrifice his son when ordered to by God.
Allah via a dream ordered the Prophet to sacrifice his son Isma’il and he was about to follow the instruction when Allah stopped him and gave him a ram to sacrifice instead.
The Muslim community in the kingdom has two tradtions regarding celebration the festival; first one is to follow moon sighting in Saudi Arabia and second is to follow local moon sighting
People follow the Salafi or Ahle Ahadith approach like to follow Saudi’s moon watching and celebrate Eid with the kingdom.
Contrary, other schools of thoughts are in favour of local moon sighting saying it more close to Islamic injunctions and natural approach.
During Eid-ul-Adha, Muslims remember this obedience and sacrifice, and think about their own obedience to Allah. People who can afford it will sacrifice an animal such as a sheep or a goat and share the meat among family, friends and the poor, who each get a third share. Eid-ul-Adha is also a time when people get together with family and friends, eat traditional food and give presents.
