PS4 vs Xbox 720: Microsoft may win gaming console war with Sony by powerful software and online infrastructure

The wordy war between Sony PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Xbox 720 is getter hotter with every passing day.

Now an expert, actually founder of Atari, has jumped into the war putting his weight and believe in win of Microsoft gaming console in war of next generation consoles.

Nolan Bushnell is clear in his opinion regarding the win of US software giant, with a short legacy of products like Xbox and Surface tablet.

The reason for winning the console gaming in coming ages are two:

Software excellence

Online Infrastructure.

In Nolan’s view Microsoft is edging over Sony in both of these matters.

“Microsoft, because of their strong software tools, will end up with much better products sooner [and] easier, in my estimation,” VG 24/7 quoted Nolan as saying.

He went on saying “And with that, I think will be an advantage. And also don’t forget, Microsoft actually has so much money to defend this. Plus, they have a good infrastructure with the [Xbox Live Arcade], with their online world.”

In past Sony looked somehow lame in software system and the system understanding was hard to grasp. This has led a expert like Nolan to reach the conclusion that Sony’s major overhauling in software system of PS4 could once again be lame and hard to understand for software community, a backbone for success of any gaming project, whether PC or console.

But the story doesn’t end here. By making progress in software and online infrastructure, Sony could once again be on the right track. But will Sony executives listen to this call or not is a hard to answer question.

  1. Fanboy Stadium Down here……I don’t play either anymore but have owned both… Microsoft needs to work on the Games, Sony needs to work on there Security and the quality of games…. No point having 1 million games on line up for release if 90 percent suck…They will be very comparitive. And PS has never really been number one btw neother have… it depends on what you like to do on the console… MS has an amazingly user friendly interface while PS is free but not so user friendly… So get off your high horses about both MS and PS they both have flaws and will have flaws this time too.

  2. Wow, you guys can’t get off your fanboyism can you. I was a sony fan for a long time even when they had the inferior system of the three (ps2, gamecube, and xbox). But lets be realistic as to “Sony’s #1” status. I mean have you seen the sales of the ps4 and 360 since launch. Sure sony has closed the gap more and more, but their record with the ps4 showed them making a system too hard for developers to understand. And I don’t care what their 2 hour long presentation said about “developer friendly”, and yes I heard the devs say how in love they were with it. I reserve my final thoughts when everything is out and on the table. Not specs that sony can change before launch. So here is to hoping that sony learned their lesson, but not holding my breath.

    • PS4’s architecture is basically that of a PC’s, there isn’t much difference. This means it will be extremely easy for any developer to work on. Maybe do a little research before you post, eh?

  3. I wonder if he was hearing what all the developers were saying about the PS4, plus Sony is actually going after for developers to make PS4 there primary console. you never hear Microsoft trying to grab developers, only limiting them for only games that makes tons of profit for Microsoft and giving hard times with indie developers. I really don’t see Microsoft winning the console war for this generation at all GLOBALLY.
