Lahore: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman met PML-N president Nawaz Sharif in Raiwand on Monday.
While talking to media after the meeting, the leaders said that both the parties were agreed to form electoral alliance in the upcoming general election. “Committees have been set up to discuss the matter further.”
Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, and Iqbal Zafar Jhagra were also present at the meeting.
Nawaz said that the JUI-F chief was a believer of democracy therefore he was there friend. He said that differences were part of the politics, adding that Fazlur Rehman’s role for peace in the country was appreciable.
“Peace is necessary for the country and the region. We support every move for the peace and will participate in the JUI-F’s All Parties Conference (APC).”
He said that the matter of caretaker government also came under discussion during the matter. “The caretaker government will be formed with consensus.”
Rehman told reporters that he had discussed the prevailing political situation and other issues of mutual interest with the former prime minister.
He said that the committees of both the parties would discuss procedure and other issues pertaining to the electoral alliance.
