Pakistani investors eyeing investment opportunities at Ajman Free Zone

Karachi: Pakistani investors are taking keen interest in setting up their businesses in Ajman Free Zone Authority and the number of investors is still increasing from around the globe. More than 7,200 companies are already registered at Ajman Free Zone from around the world and Pakistani businesses rank amongst top 5 AFZA’s registered businesses. This was stated by Mr. Ali Hussain Fahmi, Head of Customer Service, Ajman Free Zone Authority while addressing a Media Briefing at Karachi Press Club on Monday. Head of financial Planning Division, Abdalla Yehia Gohar and Manager Customer Service Rafeeah Al Suweidi were also present on the occasion. 

He informed that a three member high profile delegation from AFZA will meet Pakistani investors in a Seminar on Tuesday 26th February to further explore the growing inward investments from Pakistan.

HE Mahmood Al Hashemi, Director General of AFZA in his statement said ‘We want to enhance business relations, promote trade and strengthen ties with Pakistan’s business community. The road show is aimed at Pakistani businessmen, entrepreneurs and investors that would like to spread their operations internationally especially in the Middle Eastern region whereby the UAE serves as a springboard and a centre point to enter the regional markets, he added.

During their visit, AFZA officials aim at meeting investors from various industries, trade and service sector and showcase multiple facilities and business investment opportunities available for the Pakistan business community. The convenient set-up solutions, diverse range of licensing options along with a tax free operation are some of the core subjects to be discussed with the prospective investors.

Head of financial Planning Division, Ajman Free Zone Authority Abdalla Yehia Gohar said that with cost effective set-up packages, the regulations and procedures for investment at AFZA have been kept simple to facilitate the investors. Highlighting the incentives for investment at Ajman Free Zone he informed that free zone offers 100% foreign ownership with the facility of 100% repatriation of capital and profit. There is no personal income tax for investors at AFZA.

Manager Customer Service, Rafeeah Al Suweidi said that having a diverse focus, Ajman Free Zone offers a range of licenses to accommodate all business types, which helps us in accommodating companies form all fields, and we can provide a platform across the board in facilitating their business. He informed that AFZA offers Trading Licenses (Also known as commercial license) for import and export, service licenses, industrial license and national industrial license. Investors can benefit from array of facilities ranging from Smart Office (desk space), offices, Warehouse and Land.

Coupled with the range of licenses, we also offer diverse range of options to house companies and ensure all their requirements are met. AFZA offers fully furnished and serviced, SMART OFFICES with desk space ideal for small sized companies, emerging entrepreneurs and established companies that wish to establish their presence and operate without arduous overheads. A wide range of offices are available in the free zone ranging from 16-40 sq.mtrs. Pre-built warehouses are also available in the free zone ranging from 100 sq.mtrs to 1000 sq.mts.

Ali Hussain Fahmi said that for large-scale industrial and manufacturing units who intend to build up their own structure to suit their industrial requirements, land area is leased for a period of 20 years. This 20 Years land contact is renewable for another 20 years guaranteeing 40 years tax and customs free operations. He said that with lowest lease prices Ajman Free Zone Authority is providing world class infrastructure to the investors from around the world.

Talking about advantages of setting up industries in Ajman Free Zone, he informed that continuous supply of cheap energy sources, most economical wage structure and easy access to vast work force, total exemption from all import and export duties, total elimination of all service charges and hidden fees, exceptionally low handling charges, customs free operations are the most attractive features.

Situated at the foot of the Arabian Gulf, the Ajman Free Zone is widely regarded as the ideal depot for the supply of goods and services for both domestic and regional markets around UAE. The inexpensive energy and the absence of bureaucratic complications, coupled with the availability of numerous infrastructure facilities, have attracted many investors to base their operations in Ajman.
