Illegal weapon case: JWP chief Shahzain Bugti, guards released

Quetta: A lower court of Balochistan on Thursday released Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP) President Shahzain Bugti and his body guards in an illegal weapon case.

On December 22, 2010, Security forces arrested Shahzain Bugti, seizing heavy arms and ammunition from his convoy at a checkpost in Quetta.

The convoy of Shahzain Bugti was stopped at Buleli Checkpost in Quetta. During the course of searching the vehicles in the convoy, the Frontier Corps (FC) recovered heavy arms and ammunition from 16 of the vehicles.

The arms recovered included 48 Kalashnikovs, 4 Rocket Launchers, thousands of rockets, Mortar Shells, 5 anti-aircraft guns and 70,000 of rounds, FC told.

The session judge Nooraiz Hooti released the convicts due to the absence of the evidences against them.
