Surprises from Samsung are always expected especially in case of Galaxy S series smartphones. Much rumoured AirView or non-contact feature is also a pleasant surprise for gadget lovers.
There are a number of reports now over AirView or non-contact feature in Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S4.
Keeping in view interest of our readers we have gathered some details regarding the feature, perhaps one of the unique points of Galaxy S4.
To introduce contact free feature in its upcoming smartphone, Samsung Electronics Division has contacted and selected United States’ Atmel.
Atmel is responsible to supply touch screen controller IC (touch chip) to Samsung Mobile to ensure release of Galaxy S4 in time with non-contact Gesture.
Non-contact Feature Specification
According to Digital Daily of South Korea, the chip will convert analog signal to a digital signal from touch panel chip. The chip will use Indium Oxide Electrode (ITO) with a touch sensor to integrate the effects into core parts of the smartphone.
Atmel MaxTouch is the Key
The Digital Daily has called this chip as Atmel MaxTouch, which would let a user to use his or her smartphone without touching screen of the phone. In some reports the feature is dubbed as AirView.
Lesser Consumption of Power
Due to touch technology in smartphones, power consumption is really very high and users always look annoyed over their battery condition.
After the launch of AirView feature, the consumption of would decrease too as it would enable the smartphone to identify unintended action, some experts said. This would give Galaxy S4 a cutting edge over other smartphone brands.
Galaxy S4 is expected to be announced on March 15 and to be released for sale from early April.
